Holding on is one of the roots of all problems. As the Buddha said so many years ago, it is our attachment that brings us pain. So, it is in letting go that things unfold and move forward. Our holding on is an attempt to get needs from the past met now but the past is gone. And paradoxically the only way to be happy and fulfilled is to HEAL OUR HOLDING ON.
